The LTQ LX is the only mass spec capable of multiple dissociation techniques to help achieve better data collection; i.e., Pulsed Q Collision Induced Dissociation (PQD), an Electron-transfer Dissociation (ETD) option and most commonly Collision-induced Dissociation (CID). PQD is a new technique developed by Thermo Scientific that eliminates low mass cut-off, a problem with ion traps. Sequentially this allows for unmatched coverage for predicted and unpredicted metabolites. Recommended for: Protein identification and quantitative differential expression analysis, Biomarker studies and PTM identification, Metabolite identification and quantification, Tissue imaging and High-speed LC methods.
