Field Service Engineer Sciex and Waters LC/MS

The Field Service Engineer installs, configures, troubleshoots, and maintains products/equipment. Identifies, analyzes, and repairs product failures, orders, and replaces parts as needed. Research and answer customer questions about product features, issues, and upgrades. Performs start-up testing and customer training on features and general maintenance of the product. Solid knowledge of the organization’s products and services. Work is generally independent and collaborative. The ideal candidate will have experience working with Sciex and Waters LC/MS systems.

This full-time position is at our Arcade, New York facility with a willingness to travel.

Summary of Duties & Tasks

  • Represents the interests of the Company to our clients, maintains a professional demeanor and proper dress when meeting customers.
  • Refurbish, repair, and test LC/MS and accessories.
  • Installation of LC/MS and accessories on-site and in-shop.
  • Obtain technical support when needed to adequately complete the job.
  • Thoroughly and accurately identify parts and supplies needed for each job.
  • Provide phone support to customers, troubleshoot, resolve issues by phone whenever possible or required.
  • Upgrade job knowledge to keep current with industry trends.
  • Use Company resources, tools, and supplies in an efficient, cost-effective, and responsible manner.
  • Follow up with customers to ensure post-install satisfaction.
  • Pick up and drop off equipment.
  • Complete an accurate written service report (work order) of work performed.
  • Communicate the status of each job with the Customer Service Manager, including additional customer requirements and requests for additional parts as the need arises.
  • Conduct a pre-installation checklist with the customer before arrival on-site.
  • Willingness to Travel
  • Clean & Valid Driver’s License

Job Qualifications

  • Operate and repair analytical instruments, specifically Sciex, Waters, and LC/MS Systems.
  • 3 - 5 years experience in customer support/customer relations/technical support or associate degree with 3+ years related work experience.
  • Subject matter expert for all instruments to which they are assigned.
  • The engineer has a thorough knowledge of their systems and can conduct training for GenTech personnel and customers.

Skills

  • Written and verbal communications and the ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Write routine reports and correspondence. Speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
  • Math – using formulas for Standard Deviation, calculator, etc.
  • Operation of telephone, cell phone, voicemail, computers & computer software and computer software, email/internet, copiers, and calculators.
