What you are buying
A refurbished Agilent G1888 Headspace, a headspace sampler. It samples the vapor above the sample for volatile analysis; it runs unattended sequences.
Every unit moves through the GenTech Certified process. Solution Scientists disassemble and inspect each module, replace all consumables and degraded wear components, then tune and calibrate the instrument and verify performance against OEM and published benchmarks using known reference chemicals. The instrument ships with its verification report. A certified-refurbished system gives you that performance without the capital cost or the lead time of a new purchase.
What Agilent says about this platform
Agilent built the G1888 around an inert sample pathway to limit analyte degradation and loss, with a deactivated sample path from the needle to the transfer line as standard. A 70-sample tray and 12 heating-oven positions support unattended overnight operation. Automated sample overlapping keeps throughput high. The oven runs 40 to 230°C, which covers semi-volatiles above 200°C as well as traditional low-boiling analytes. An inert 7890A or 6890N Volatiles Interface, paired with the G1888, gives the whole flow path the same inertness. Multiple headspace extraction adds up to 100 punctures per vial, or a concentration mode that runs several extractions from one vial before the GC run starts. An event log tracks every operation and flags temperature or pressure deviation from the setpoint, in line with 21 CFR Part 11. A built-in keypad runs the sampler standalone. GC ChemStation, MSD Productivity ChemStation, MSD Security ChemStation, or Cerity NDS controls it over a network.
What each component does
Vapor sampling
Samples the vapor above the sample for volatile analysis, without carrying the liquid or solid matrix into the GC.
Automated sequencing
Runs overnight sequences without an operator, working through the loaded tray on its own schedule.

What “GenTech Certified” means
Refurbishment at GenTech is a defined process, not a wipe-down. Every system moves through the same five stages.
1. Disassembly and rebuild. Solution Scientists strip the instrument down, clean each module inside and out, and rebuild it from the frame up. They replace pump seals, pistons, and check valves to specification.
2. Configuration and new parts. Solution Scientists install the options and modules you selected and fit new wear parts throughout. They replace the detector lamp with a new one and reset the lamp hours.
3. Diagnostic and performance testing. Solution Scientists tune and calibrate the instrument, run system diagnostics, and confirm detector wavelength accuracy. They test full-system pressure and gradient performance against OEM and published benchmarks using known reference chemicals.
4. Data package you approve before shipment. The verification data goes to you for approval before the system leaves the bench. You see exactly how the instrument performs before it ships.
5. Delivery and installation. The instrument ships in protective packing with a one-year warranty option and professional installation available from a GenTech Solution Scientist.
