For this installment of Tech Tips Tuesday, we pulled another classic from the archives and gave it a refresh. This simple tutorial demonstrates how to clean a sample cone in a Waters Acquity Triple Quadrupole TQD Mass Spectrometer (MS).
Transcript:
- Open the source enclosure door by unclipping both spring clips.
- Close the source isolation valve.
- Disconnect the PTFE tube from the cone gas assembly.
- Rotate cone gas assembly 90° and gently remove from ion block assembly.
- Separate the gas cone, sample cone, and O-ring.
- Place sample cone and gas cone in methanol water and sonicate for 15 minutes.
- Once sonication process is completed, put a new O-ring, sample cone and gas cone back together.
- Insert cone gas assembly in ion block assembly and rotate 90° down.
- Reconnect PTFE tube to the cone gas assembly tube.
- Open source isolation valve.
- Close the source enclosure door and secure with both spring clips.
