The System

What you are buying

Most petrochemical, environmental, and food-safety methods call for the capillary GC separations the Agilent 6850 runs. Electronic pneumatic control meters the carrier gas to 0.001 psi; the heated inlet vaporizes the sample and carries it onto the column; the oven programs from 4 to 450°C; the detector measures each compound as it elutes. GenTech rebuilds, plumbs, and tests the inlets, detectors, and flow path. You receive a GC that arrives verified and ready to run your methods.

Every unit moves through the GenTech Certified process. Solution Scientists disassemble and inspect each module, replace all consumables and degraded wear components, then tune and calibrate the instrument and verify performance against OEM and published benchmarks using known reference chemicals. The instrument ships with its verification report. A certified-refurbished system gives you that performance without the capital cost or the lead time of a new purchase.

What Agilent says about this platform

Agilent built the 6850 on the same inlets and detectors as the 6890N. It runs the same method parameters and delivers comparable retention time and quantitation repeatability. The oven range runs 5°C above ambient to 350°C, with ramps to 75°C per minute; a small oven with less thermal mass reaches temperature without a higher-voltage power source. A six-button, two-line interface handles run control, status, and up to five stored methods locally. The system carries a built-in LAN connection for network control. A top-opening lid gives direct access to the column connections at the inlet and detector, which Agilent designed for quicker column changes than a standard GC. Agilent fits the 6850 into half the footprint of a conventional dual-channel GC. Two units occupy the space one larger GC would need. Early maintenance feedback flags service before it costs uptime.

What each component does

Inlet

A single split/splitless inlet vaporizes the sample and delivers it to the column, with electronic pneumatic control for repeatable flow.

Column oven

Programs from ambient-plus to 350°C with fast ramping in a compact, fast-cooling oven built for high sample throughput.

Electronic pneumatic control

Meters carrier and detector gases precisely, which holds retention times steady run to run.

Detectors

A single detector matched to the method: FID for organics, TCD for fixed gases, micro-ECD for halogens, NPD, or FPD.

Certification

What “GenTech Certified” means

Refurbishment at GenTech is a defined process, not a wipe-down. Every system moves through the same five stages.

1. Disassembly and rebuild. Solution Scientists strip the instrument down, clean each module inside and out, and rebuild it from the frame up. They replace pump seals, pistons, and check valves to specification.

2. Configuration and new parts. Solution Scientists install the options and modules you selected and fit new wear parts throughout. They replace the detector lamp with a new one and reset the lamp hours.

3. Diagnostic and performance testing. Solution Scientists tune and calibrate the instrument, run system diagnostics, and confirm detector wavelength accuracy. They test full-system pressure and gradient performance against OEM and published benchmarks using known reference chemicals.

4. Data package you approve before shipment. The verification data goes to you for approval before the system leaves the bench. You see exactly how the instrument performs before it ships.

5. Delivery and installation. The instrument ships in protective packing with a one-year warranty option and professional installation available from a GenTech Solution Scientist.
