What you are buying
Most pharmaceutical QC, environmental, and food-safety methods call for the separations the Agilent 1260 Infinity II runs. The quaternary pump blends up to four solvents at pressures to 600 bar; the vialsampler handles routine and high-throughput sequences; the thermostat holds column temperature steady; the diode array detector covers the full UV-visible range. GenTech assembles, plumbs, and tests this stack as one system. You receive an instrument that runs out of the crate rather than a set of modules to integrate.
Every unit moves through the GenTech Certified process. Solution Scientists disassemble and inspect each module, replace all consumables and degraded wear components, then tune and calibrate the instrument and verify performance against OEM and published benchmarks using known reference chemicals. The instrument ships with its verification report. A certified-refurbished system gives you that performance without the capital cost or the lead time of a new purchase.
What Agilent says about this platform
Agilent positions the 1260 Infinity II as the successor to the 1100 and 1200 series and calls it the standard system for routine HPLC analysis. Agilent rates the platform for a ten-year service life. That lineage is the reason to buy one refurbished. The installed base is large, methods written on a 1100 or 1200 carry directly onto a 1260, and parts and trained service are everywhere. You inherit a mature, well-supported platform without paying new-instrument prices.
Quaternary or binary pump
The quaternary configuration suits the majority of isocratic and routine gradient work and gives you four-solvent blending flexibility. The binary configuration serves gradient-critical and high-pressure methods where pump precision matters most.
What each module does
Quaternary pump (G7111B). Delivers up to 600 bar across a flow range to 10 mL/min and blends as many as four solvents in a single method. The pressure range lets you run smaller-particle and longer columns for higher resolution and faster separations.
Vialsampler (G7129A). Holds up to 132 vials and injects 0.1 to 100 µL per run. A dedicated needle-flush port rinses the outside of the needle between injections, which keeps carryover low across long sequences.
Multicolumn thermostat (G7116A). Holds up to four columns at a steady temperature from below ambient to 85 °C and reaches each one directly through a Quick-Change switching valve under software control. You can run column selection or alternating regeneration without replumbing.
Diode array detector (G7115A). Reads from 190 to 950 nm, the full UV-visible range plus the near-infrared, which lets you quantify, confirm peak identity, and check peak purity in one run. Deuterium and tungsten lamps hold the baseline steady for clean integration.

What “GenTech Certified” means
Refurbishment at GenTech is a defined process, not a wipe-down. Every system moves through the same five stages.
1. Disassembly and rebuild. Solution Scientists strip the instrument down, clean each module inside and out, and rebuild it from the frame up. They replace pump seals, pistons, and check valves to specification.
2. Configuration and new parts. Solution Scientists install the options and modules you selected and fit new wear parts throughout. They replace the detector lamp with a new one and reset the lamp hours.
3. Diagnostic and performance testing. Solution Scientists tune and calibrate the instrument, run system diagnostics, and confirm detector wavelength accuracy. They test full-system pressure and gradient performance against OEM and published benchmarks using known reference chemicals.
4. Data package you approve before shipment. The verification data goes to you for approval before the system leaves the bench. You see exactly how the instrument performs before it ships.
5. Delivery and installation. The instrument ships in protective packing with a one-year warranty option and professional installation available from a GenTech Solution Scientist.
Labs that run this system
The 1260 Infinity II is method-compatible across the techniques most regulated and research labs run every day. These are the application areas buyers ask about most.
Assay, Impurity and dissolution
The 1260 transfers cleanly into USP monograph assays, related-substance profiling, and dissolution testing. Quaternary blending simplifies mobile-phase transfer between labs.
EPA HPLC methods
Diode array detection supports EPA HPLC methods for contaminants and residues in water and soil, including PAHs, explosives, and carbamates.
Additives and vitamins
The system quantifies preservatives, sweeteners, organic acids, and fat-soluble vitamins at the throughput a production-support lab needs.
Cannabinoid potency
HPLC with UV detection is the reference technique for potency. The 1260 resolves the major cannabinoids for compliance and label-claim testing.
Botanical actives
Labs quantify polyphenols, flavonoids, and marker compounds in extracts and nutraceutical formulations across long, reproducible sequences.
Screening and drug monitoring
The 1260 runs HPLC-UV workflows for therapeutic drug monitoring and drugs-of-abuse screening, where method portability and uptime matter more than peak novelty.
Purity and additives
Industrial labs separate and quantify synthesis intermediates, polymer additives, and stabilizers for QC and release testing.
Four-solvent scouting
Agilent recommends the quaternary pump for method development. Blend up to four solvents to scout selectivity before you lock a final method.
Proteomics, metabolomics, lipidomics
Many omics workflows use mass spectrometry for detection and rely on LC for separation. The 1260 serves as the front end feeding your MS or fraction collector.
