What you are buying
A refurbished Agilent 1290 Infinity G4226A wellplate sampler. It draws a precise volume from a vial or well plate and injects it onto the column, at pressures to 1200 bar for sub-two-micron column technology.
Every unit moves through the GenTech Certified process. Solution Scientists disassemble and inspect each module, replace all consumables and degraded wear components, then tune and calibrate the instrument and verify performance against OEM and published benchmarks using known reference chemicals. The instrument ships with its verification report. A certified-refurbished system gives you that performance without the capital cost or the lead time of a new purchase.
What Agilent says about this platform
Agilent built the G4226A around an X-Z-theta robotic transport mechanism, driven by stepper motors and monitored by optical encoders, to position the sampling arm precisely over vials or well plates. An integrated metering device draws the sample into the needle and flushes it onto the column through a controlled injection sequence. A vial and plate pusher mechanism stabilizes the container during needle withdrawal, which supports reliable operation when septa are used. A flow-through design flushes the complete flow path with mobile phase after each injection. A dedicated needle flush station rinses the needle’s exterior with a peristaltic pump, cutting carryover to under 0.004 percent. The standard injection range runs 0.1 to 20 microliters, extending to 40 microliters with an optional loop or 120 microliters with the large volume injection kit; a 100-microliter upgrade kit lowers the maximum pressure from 1200 to 600 bar. Injection precision holds under 0.25 percent RSD from 5 to 20 microliters. A 384-well plate configuration processes up to 768 samples unattended. An optional 1290 Infinity Thermostat adds Peltier temperature control from 4 to 40 degrees Celsius. Early Maintenance Feedback and extensive diagnostics through the Control Module and Agilent Lab Advisor software round out the design.
What each module does
High-pressure injection
Draws a precise volume from a vial or well and injects it onto the column at pressures to 1200 bar, with a flow-through design that flushes the path after each injection to keep carryover low.
Automated sequencing
Runs unattended sequences from a 384-well plate, up to 768 samples, using an X-Z-theta robot to position the sampling arm for each injection.

What “GenTech Certified” means
Refurbishment at GenTech is a defined process, not a wipe-down. Every system moves through the same five stages.
1. Disassembly and rebuild. Solution Scientists strip the instrument down, clean each module inside and out, and rebuild it from the frame up. They replace pump seals, pistons, and check valves to specification.
2. Configuration and new parts. Solution Scientists install the options and modules you selected and fit new wear parts throughout. They replace the detector lamp with a new one and reset the lamp hours.
3. Diagnostic and performance testing. Solution Scientists tune and calibrate the instrument, run system diagnostics, and confirm detector wavelength accuracy. They test full-system pressure and gradient performance against OEM and published benchmarks using known reference chemicals.
4. Data package you approve before shipment. The verification data goes to you for approval before the system leaves the bench. You see exactly how the instrument performs before it ships.
5. Delivery and installation. The instrument ships in protective packing with a one-year warranty option and professional installation available from a GenTech Solution Scientist.
Labs that run this system
The 1290 HPLC is method-compatible across the techniques most regulated and research labs run every day. These are the application areas buyers ask about most.
Assay, Impurity and dissolution
The 1290 transfers cleanly into USP monograph assays, related-substance profiling, and dissolution testing. Quaternary blending simplifies mobile-phase transfer between labs.
EPA HPLC methods
Diode array detection supports EPA HPLC methods for contaminants and residues in water and soil, including PAHs, explosives, and carbamates.
Additives and vitamins
The system quantifies preservatives, sweeteners, organic acids, and fat-soluble vitamins at the throughput a production-support lab needs.
Cannabinoid potency
HPLC with UV detection is the reference technique for potency. The 1290 resolves the major cannabinoids for compliance and label-claim testing.
Botanical actives
Labs quantify polyphenols, flavonoids, and marker compounds in extracts and nutraceutical formulations across long, reproducible sequences.
Screening and drug monitoring
The 1290 runs HPLC-UV workflows for therapeutic drug monitoring and drugs-of-abuse screening, where method portability and uptime matter more than peak novelty.
Purity and additives
Industrial labs separate and quantify synthesis intermediates, polymer additives, and stabilizers for QC and release testing.
Four-solvent scouting
Agilent recommends the quaternary pump for method development. Blend up to four solvents to scout selectivity before you lock a final method.
Proteomics, metabolomics, lipidomics
Many omics workflows use mass spectrometry for detection and rely on LC for separation. The 1290 serves as the front end feeding your MS or fraction collector.
