What you are buying

A refurbished AB Sciex QTrap 5500 LC/MS system. The liquid chromatograph front end separates the mixture and delivers it to the ion source. The source converts the eluent into gas-phase ions. The hybrid triple quadrupole/linear ion trap analyzer runs standard MRM quantitation or switches into ion-trap scan modes for full-spectrum identification and confirmation in the same method. GenTech rebuilds and tests the LC, the source, and the analyzer, then verifies the system end to end. You receive an LC-MS that arrives tuned and ready to run your methods.

Every unit moves through the GenTech Certified process. Solution Scientists disassemble and inspect each module, replace all consumables and degraded wear components, then tune and calibrate the instrument and verify performance against OEM and published benchmarks using known reference chemicals. The instrument ships with its verification report. A certified-refurbished system gives you that performance without the capital cost or the lead time of a new purchase.

SCIEX built the QTrap 5500 as a hybrid instrument, combining a standard triple quadrupole with a linear ion trap in the same analyzer. The triple quadrupole scans up to 12,000 Da per second; the linear ion trap reaches settings up to 20,000 Da per second. Triple quadrupole mode covers a mass range of m/z 5 to 1,250; linear ion trap mode covers roughly m/z 50 to 1,000. Polarity switches in 50 milliseconds. The minimum MRM dwell time runs 1 millisecond. Mass accuracy holds to within 0.1 Da over 24 hours. An AcQuRate pulse-counting channel electron multiplier detects ions across a dynamic range of five orders of magnitude. SCIEX rates sensitivity at 50 femtograms of reserpine on-column, with a signal-to-noise ratio above 2,000. Interchangeable ion sources cover TurboIonSpray, APCI, DuoSpray, PhotoSpray, and nanospray. Scan types include Q1 and Q3 MS, product ion, precursor ion, neutral loss or gain, MRM, enhanced MS, enhanced product ion, enhanced resolution, MS3, MRM3, and TripleTrap modes. An optional SelexION differential ion mobility device adds selectivity without breaking vacuum on the instrument. Analyst software controls acquisition and processing.

 

What each module does

Liquid chromatograph

Separates the mixture and delivers a reproducible gradient to the source. This listing does not specify a bundled HPLC brand; a compatible front end is sold separately or paired at the bench.

Ion source

Converts the liquid eluent into gas-phase ions. Interchangeable TurboIonSpray, APCI, DuoSpray, PhotoSpray, and nanospray sources cover a range of compound classes and sample volumes.

Mass analyzer

A triple quadrupole and a linear ion trap share the same analyzer. MRM mode isolates and fragments a precursor for trace quantitation; the linear ion trap switches the same run into full-scan, enhanced product ion, or MS3 modes for identification and confirmation.

Vacuum and detection

What “GenTech Certified” means

Refurbishment at GenTech is a defined process, not a wipe-down. Every system moves through the same five stages.

1. Disassembly and rebuild. Solution Scientists strip the instrument down, clean each module inside and out, and rebuild it from the frame up. They replace pump seals, pistons, and check valves to specification.

2. Configuration and new parts. Solution Scientists install the options and modules you selected and fit new wear parts throughout. They replace the detector lamp with a new one and reset the lamp hours.

3. Diagnostic and performance testing. Solution Scientists tune and calibrate the instrument, run system diagnostics, and confirm detector wavelength accuracy. They test full-system pressure and gradient performance against OEM and published benchmarks using known reference chemicals.

4. Data package you approve before shipment. The verification data goes to you for approval before the system leaves the bench. You see exactly how the instrument performs before it ships.

5. Delivery and installation. The instrument ships in protective packing with a one-year warranty option and professional installation available from a GenTech Solution Scientist.
