What you are buying

Most petrochemical, environmental, and food-safety methods call for the capillary GC separations the Agilent 7820A runs. Electronic pneumatic control meters the carrier gas to 0.001 psi; the heated inlet vaporizes the sample and carries it onto the column; the oven programs from 4 to 450°C; the detector measures each compound as it elutes. GenTech rebuilds, plumbs, and tests the inlets, detectors, and flow path. You receive a GC that arrives verified and ready to run your methods.

Every unit moves through the GenTech Certified process. What Agilent says about this platform

Agilent built the 7820A for small to midsize labs running routine methods. The column oven runs 8°C above ambient to 425°C, a narrower range than Agilent’s larger GC platforms, with 1°C setpoint resolution and ramps to 75°C per minute. Electronic pneumatic control holds pressure to a setpoint resolution of 0.01 psi. Agilent rates retention time repeatability under 0.06 percent and peak area repeatability under 2 percent. The system holds two inlets and up to two detectors, with a single-quadrupole mass spectrometer available as a detector option. A digital display with run and ready indicator lights and an audio alarm reports status at the bench. LAN connectivity and remote start and stop integrate the 7820A into an existing lab network. Agilent positions the 7820A as an older platform than the 8890 and 8860; it does not carry their browser-based diagnostics or fleet-monitoring features.

What “GenTech Certified” means

Refurbishment at GenTech is a defined process, not a wipe-down. Every system moves through the same five stages.

1. Disassembly and rebuild. Solution Scientists strip the instrument down, clean each module inside and out, and rebuild it from the frame up. They replace pump seals, pistons, and check valves to specification.

2. Configuration and new parts. Solution Scientists install the options and modules you selected and fit new wear parts throughout. They replace the detector lamp with a new one and reset the lamp hours.

3. Diagnostic and performance testing. Solution Scientists tune and calibrate the instrument, run system diagnostics, and confirm detector wavelength accuracy. They test full-system pressure and gradient performance against OEM and published benchmarks using known reference chemicals.

4. Data package you approve before shipment. The verification data goes to you for approval before the system leaves the bench. You see exactly how the instrument performs before it ships.

5. Delivery and installation. The instrument ships in protective packing with a one-year warranty option and professional installation available from a GenTech Solution Scientist.
