What you are buying
A refurbished Agilent 6140 Single Quadrupole LC/MS with a 1200 HPLC front end. The 1200 pump and sampler separate the mixture and deliver a reproducible gradient to the source. The 6140’s ion source converts the eluent into gas-phase ions. The single quadrupole confirms target compounds by mass alongside the chromatographic peak. GenTech rebuilds and tests the LC, the source, and the analyzer, then verifies the system end to end.
Every unit moves through the GenTech Certified process. Solution Scientists disassemble and inspect each module, replace all consumables and degraded wear components, then tune and calibrate the instrument and verify performance against OEM and published benchmarks using known reference chemicals. What Agilent says about this platform
Agilent built the 6140 around an orthogonal pneumatic nebulizer design, which reduces chemical noise across a wide range of LC conditions. A high-capacity solvent drying system, with user-controlled gas flow rate and temperature, further cuts chemical noise and lets the instrument handle thermally sensitive compounds. Scan speed reaches up to 10,000 atomic mass units per second in fast mode. Mass accuracy holds to within 0.13 u across the calibrated range in scan mode, over a mass range of roughly m/z 10 to 1,350. An optional multimode source runs electrospray and atmospheric pressure chemical ionization at the same time. Fraction collection can trigger on mass, an analog signal, or time, monitoring up to 16 m/z values with the optional I/O Accessory Module installed. Agilent ChemStation Workstation software controls acquisition, analysis, and automation.
What each component does
Liquid chromatograph
Separates the mixture and delivers a reproducible gradient to the source. The 1200 front end runs the same pumps and samplers as a standalone HPLC.
Ion source
An orthogonal pneumatic nebulizer and high-capacity solvent drying system convert the liquid eluent into gas-phase ions while keeping chemical noise low.
Mass analyzer

What “GenTech Certified” means
Refurbishment at GenTech is a defined process, not a wipe-down. Every system moves through the same five stages.
1. Disassembly and rebuild. Solution Scientists strip the instrument down, clean each module inside and out, and rebuild it from the frame up. They replace pump seals, pistons, and check valves to specification.
2. Configuration and new parts. Solution Scientists install the options and modules you selected and fit new wear parts throughout. They replace the detector lamp with a new one and reset the lamp hours.
3. Diagnostic and performance testing. Solution Scientists tune and calibrate the instrument, run system diagnostics, and confirm detector wavelength accuracy. They test full-system pressure and gradient performance against OEM and published benchmarks using known reference chemicals.
4. Data package you approve before shipment. The verification data goes to you for approval before the system leaves the bench. You see exactly how the instrument performs before it ships.
5. Delivery and installation. The instrument ships in protective packing with a one-year warranty option and professional installation available from a GenTech Solution Scientist.
