What you are buying

A refurbished Agilent 6490 Triple Quadrupole LC/MS, paired with a 1290 Infinity HPLC front end. The 1290 Infinity pump and sampler separate the mixture and deliver a reproducible gradient to the source. The 6490’s ion source converts the eluent into gas-phase ions. The triple quadrupole isolates a precursor, fragments it, and measures the product ion down to attogram levels. GenTech rebuilds and tests the LC, the source, and the analyzer, then verifies the complete system end to end. You receive an LC-MS that arrives tuned and ready to run your methods.

Every unit moves through the GenTech Certified process. Solution Scientists disassemble and inspect each module, replace all consumables and degraded wear components, then tune and calibrate the instrument and verify performance against OEM and published benchmarks using known reference chemicals. What Agilent says about this platform

Agilent built the 6490 around iFunnel technology: an Agilent Jet Stream ion source, a hexabore sampling capillary, and a dual ion funnel work together to pull more ions from atmosphere into the vacuum system. Agilent reports detection down to 100 attograms, roughly 200 zeptomoles, injected on-column for a verapamil MRM transition. A curved collision cell keeps the benchtop footprint compact and cuts background noise, which improves signal-to-noise. High-frequency quadrupole electronics drive faster scan rates and narrower mass-window isolation. Agilent states the 6490 reaches up to six orders of linear dynamic range. Agilent designed the 6490 to run alongside its 1290 Infinity LC, matching the mass spectrometer’s acquisition speed to the fast separations the UHPLC delivers. MassHunter software runs acquisition and data analysis.

 

What each module does

Liquid chromatograph

Separates the mixture and delivers a reproducible gradient to the source. The 1290 Infinity front end runs the same pumps and samplers as a standalone UHPLC, built for fast separations.

iFunnel Ion source

Converts the liquid eluent into gas-phase ions. The Agilent Jet Stream source, part of iFunnel technology, improves ion sampling from atmosphere into the vacuum system.

Mass analyzer

Two quadrupoles flank a curved collision cell. The first selects a precursor, the cell fragments it, and the second measures a product ion, which gives the selectivity and sensitivity that trace quantitation in complex matrices demands.

Vacuum and detection

Stages the ions from atmosphere to high vacuum, then counts them at the detector.

What “GenTech Certified” means

Refurbishment at GenTech is a defined process, not a wipe-down. Every system moves through the same five stages.

1. Disassembly and rebuild. Solution Scientists strip the instrument down, clean each module inside and out, and rebuild it from the frame up. They replace pump seals, pistons, and check valves to specification.

2. Configuration and new parts. Solution Scientists install the options and modules you selected and fit new wear parts throughout. They replace the detector lamp with a new one and reset the lamp hours.

3. Diagnostic and performance testing. Solution Scientists tune and calibrate the instrument, run system diagnostics, and confirm detector wavelength accuracy. They test full-system pressure and gradient performance against OEM and published benchmarks using known reference chemicals.

4. Data package you approve before shipment. The verification data goes to you for approval before the system leaves the bench. You see exactly how the instrument performs before it ships.

5. Delivery and installation. The instrument ships in protective packing with a one-year warranty option and professional installation available from a GenTech Solution Scientist.
