What you are buying
A professionally refurbished Agilent 1290 Infinity binary pump (G4220A). The module offers unparalleled hydraulic performance for state-of-the-art UHPLC methods. Engineered to handle high-pressure analytical requirements up to 1200 bar, the module comes equipped with a built-in two-channel online vacuum degasser, an automatic solvent selection valve (SSV) for quick mobile phase switching, and an integrated Jet Weaver mixer to ensure completely homogenous mobile phase composition. Your purchase is fully tested, verified for flow accuracy, and backed by our comprehensive warranty coverage to ensure a seamless drop-in integration into your existing 1260, 1290, or Infinity II system stacks.
Every unit moves through the GenTech Certified process. Solution Scientists disassemble and inspect each module, replace all consumables and degraded wear components, then tune and calibrate the instrument and verify performance against OEM and published benchmarks using known reference chemicals. The instrument ships with its verification report. A certified-refurbished system gives you that performance without the capital cost or the lead time of a new purchase.
What Agilent says about this module
Agilent built the G4220A around two dual-piston in-series pumps with a proprietary servo-controlled variable stroke design and power transmission through ball screws. The pump sets flow from 0.001 to 5 mL/min in 0.001 mL/min increments, executed in 300-picoliter steps. Flow precision holds to 0.07 percent RSD or 0.005 minutes standard deviation, whichever is greater, with flow accuracy within 1 percent or 10 microliters per minute. Maximum pressure reaches 1200 bar at flows to 2 mL/min, dropping to 800 bar at flows to 5 mL/min; the VL variant, G4220B, tops out at 1050 bar. Delay volume stays under 45 microliters with the Jet Weaver mixer installed, or lower still with the mixer removed for applications that need it. An integrated two-channel degasser holds 1.5 milliliters of internal volume per channel. Active damping, paired with tuning algorithms in the firmware, cuts pressure ripple and the UV noise it causes. The pump weighs 21.8 kilograms and draws up to 350 VA.
What this module does
Binary Pump
The 1290 Infinity Binary Pump combines two independent, dual-piston in-series pumps to deliver smooth, pulse-free flow at pressures up to 1200 bar. It also features an integrated vacuum degasser and a multi-layer microfluidic Jet Weaver mixer to ensure flow stability and minimal gradient delay volumes. According to official technical literature, Agilent engineered the G4220A system to provide an industry-leading analytical power range with heavy-duty drive motors and resilient ceramic pistons.

What “GenTech Certified” means
Refurbishment at GenTech is a defined process, not a wipe-down. Every system moves through the same five stages.
1. Disassembly and rebuild. Solution Scientists strip the instrument down, clean each module inside and out, and rebuild it from the frame up. They replace pump seals, pistons, and check valves to specification.
2. Configuration and new parts. Solution Scientists install the options and modules you selected and fit new wear parts throughout. They replace the detector lamp with a new one and reset the lamp hours.
3. Diagnostic and performance testing. Solution Scientists tune and calibrate the instrument, run system diagnostics, and confirm detector wavelength accuracy. They test full-system pressure and gradient performance against OEM and published benchmarks using known reference chemicals.
4. Data package you approve before shipment. The verification data goes to you for approval before the system leaves the bench. You see exactly how the instrument performs before it ships.
5. Delivery and installation. The instrument ships in protective packing with a one-year warranty option and professional installation available from a GenTech Solution Scientist.
Labs that run this system
The 1290 HPLC is method-compatible across the techniques most regulated and research labs run every day. These are the application areas buyers ask about most.
Assay, Impurity and dissolution
The 1290 transfers cleanly into USP monograph assays, related-substance profiling, and dissolution testing. Quaternary blending simplifies mobile-phase transfer between labs.
EPA HPLC methods
Diode array detection supports EPA HPLC methods for contaminants and residues in water and soil, including PAHs, explosives, and carbamates.
Additives and vitamins
The system quantifies preservatives, sweeteners, organic acids, and fat-soluble vitamins at the throughput a production-support lab needs.
Cannabinoid potency
HPLC with UV detection is the reference technique for potency. The 1290 resolves the major cannabinoids for compliance and label-claim testing.
Botanical actives
Labs quantify polyphenols, flavonoids, and marker compounds in extracts and nutraceutical formulations across long, reproducible sequences.
Screening and drug monitoring
The 1290 runs HPLC-UV workflows for therapeutic drug monitoring and drugs-of-abuse screening, where method portability and uptime matter more than peak novelty.
Purity and additives
Industrial labs separate and quantify synthesis intermediates, polymer additives, and stabilizers for QC and release testing.
Four-solvent scouting
Agilent recommends the quaternary pump for method development. Blend up to four solvents to scout selectivity before you lock a final method.
Proteomics, metabolomics, lipidomics
Many omics workflows use mass spectrometry for detection and rely on LC for separation. The 1290 serves as the front end feeding your MS or fraction collector.
