What you are buying
A refurbished Agilent 7200 Q-TOF paired with a 7890 GC. The GC separates the mixture on a capillary column; the source ionizes each compound; the quadrupole and time-of-flight analyzer record accurate-mass spectra for screening, structural elucidation, and confirmation of unknowns.
Every unit moves through the GenTech Certified process. Solution Scientists disassemble and inspect each module, replace all consumables and degraded wear components, then tune and calibrate the instrument and verify performance against OEM and published benchmarks using known reference chemicals. The instrument ships with its verification report. A certified-refurbished system gives you that performance without the capital cost or the lead time of a new purchase.
What Agilent says about this platform
The 7200 Q-TOF operates as a standalone capillary GC detector for the Agilent 7890 Series gas chromatograph. Three turbomolecular vacuum pumps and a rotary vane foreline pump handle the vacuum system. A removable ion source probe, with its own bayonet fitting and cooling chamber, lets an operator switch between electron ionization and chemical ionization with minimal vacuum loss. Standard ionization runs electron ionization through a high-sensitivity extraction source; positive and negative chemical ionization are available as options, with methane as the CI reagent gas at 5 milliliters per minute. Ion source temperature runs from 106 to 350 degrees Celsius; the independently heated hyperbolic quadrupole runs from 100 to 200 degrees Celsius, with mass axis stability under plus or minus 0.10 Da over 24 hours. A nitrogen-blanketed linear hexapole collision cell improves ion fragmentation ahead of the detector. Spectra acquisition runs from 1 to 50 spectra per second. Agilent rates mass accuracy under 2 parts per million. The system can collect two GC detector signals while acquiring MS data in the same run. MassHunter software handles acquisition, quantitative and qualitative data analysis, and reporting.
What each component does
Gas chromatograph
Separates the mixture on a capillary column under programmed temperature. The 7890 front end runs split/splitless, multi-mode, and PTV inlets, with an oven range of 4°C above ambient to 450°C.
Ion source
A removable ion source probe ionizes each compound by electron ionization or optional chemical ionization, switching between the two with minimal vacuum loss.
Mass analyzer
A quadrupole selects ions and a nitrogen-blanketed hexapole collision cell fragments them; a time-of-flight analyzer measures the resulting masses to within 2 parts per million.
Vacuum and detection
Three turbomolecular pumps and a rotary vane foreline pump stage the ions from atmosphere to high vacuum, then count them at the detector.

What “GenTech Certified” means
Refurbishment at GenTech is a defined process, not a wipe-down. Every system moves through the same five stages.
1. Disassembly and rebuild. Solution Scientists strip the instrument down, clean each module inside and out, and rebuild it from the frame up. They replace pump seals, pistons, and check valves to specification.
2. Configuration and new parts. Solution Scientists install the options and modules you selected and fit new wear parts throughout. They replace the detector lamp with a new one and reset the lamp hours.
3. Diagnostic and performance testing. Solution Scientists tune and calibrate the instrument, run system diagnostics, and confirm detector wavelength accuracy. They test full-system pressure and gradient performance against OEM and published benchmarks using known reference chemicals.
4. Data package you approve before shipment. The verification data goes to you for approval before the system leaves the bench. You see exactly how the instrument performs before it ships.
5. Delivery and installation. The instrument ships in protective packing with a one-year warranty option and professional installation available from a GenTech Solution Scientist.
